I really like the Note 8, i HATE the curved screen. I also think its a really stupid industrial design, from a designers perspective, the curved back is nice, then a nice straight glass screen gives you purchase, or grip, but putting another curved glass screen on is really crazy, I dont know how many used S8s for sale have cracked screens.

I also dont like the viewing, it looks ODD.

So its an Apple esque looks over function thing. I personally dont like the looks anyway. I know a lot do. But either way function should always proceed form.

Blah.

I can't recall anyone that's said they actually like the curved screens, and I know it's caused my wife plenty of grief on her S7 Edge with accidental touches. My big beef with it is the "roll over" effect when viewing a photo or video full screen. Because they stretch the image/video on to the curved edges, it's like looking at an old tube style tv going out and the image is starting to fold back over on itself.

Oh thats exactly how I describe why I hate videos on Edge screens. It looks like an old Tube TV. No amount of AMOLED fixes it. Its just bad design. It was a novelty on the 6, im glad the 7 they had an option to start but they should have a flat faced option with equal specs. Some people dont like dropping phones.

HATE (and thats not a word I use a lot) it.

As long as I have a choice I will never buy a curved screen. Its just too exposed to impact on a drop and serves no functional purpose.

No more curved edges on Note series!! This is why one buys the Note series phones, you want to utilize that entire screen! With an S pen, it just flies right off the edges if you get close to it while writing, drawing or lassoing an object. It's absolutely ridiculous. No more curved edges for Note series please!!!! And... Bring back pearl white!!!

I personally like the Curved Edges, especially the way things spill off the screen while horizontally scrolling.

The Note8 IMO has the best setup in terms of curved display as it's curves are steeper and further to the sides.

I watch a ton of movies and series on my Note8 and do not see the "Tube TV Effect", I used to see it on my S7 Edge as those Edges were far more pronounced and took more real estate, but not on the Note8.
I also use Cases that have large bottom and top lips, so have not had cracked screen situation happen (knocks on wood).

Of curved screens annoy you that much, rather avoid Samsung phones for the next few years then, it seems this is here to stay for a little while longer.

I'll gladly take the Note8/S9+ edges over the Notch. :)
