Does anyone know how to set individual ringtones for each contact

My Moto G6 is less than a week old (replaced a G(4+) that hit the road at about 50 mph) and so far I'm OK w/ it. There is one thing, though... Over the past year or so, I'm getting more and more 'unsolicited' calls from telemarketers/robocalls. With my G(4+) I set it to use a different ringtone for calls from people in my contacts than the 'default' ringtone for anyone not in my contacts. That way I could easily ignore any call from someone I do not know. With the G6 I can't seem to find that option. I've tried editing each of my contacts, but cannot find any 'set ringtone' option. Does anyone have any ideas (ie. third party Contacts' or 'Ringtone' app) that might solve this issue? If not, I'm considering returning the G6.

Welcome to the forums.

No matter what device you get, this is not going to work as you expect with Oreo, the option was removed with the update. There are several texting apps that allow for a per-conversation tone to be set, so once you establish the conversation thread you can then edit the tone for that thread to be what you want while leaving a default for new message threads.

Samsung even had to release an update for its messaging app to add this same function because of customer complaints.

Doesn't solve your question, but instead of different ring tones just put a block on the numbers your getting. Generally speaking the ones I get are either from London or Manchester. I dont answer I just block them. If you long press on the numbers in the call history it'll throw up the option to do this. It might be easier.

There are two ways to do this on stock Android.

1.) You can assign a ringtone to individuals in your contact list from the upper right menu in each contact's card. Lot of work if you want all of them.

2.) Put the phone in DND priority mode, and set the calls in priority only to "contacts".

That's for SMS/MMS, not calls.
