Does anyone really care about this? Did everyone forget what a debacle the N1 was?

Especially with regard to it's supposed Verizon release? Google demonstrated a complete lack of caring for its customers with that whole thing, such that I have no interest to hoot and holler about their next gen phone.

In case you forgot, they initially only released it on T-mobile (?), with promises that it would be out on Verizon, then spontaneously released it on SPRINT. Verizon never even got the phone, and before long they stopped selling it altogether. What a sham.

I guess if you were a t-mo person you didn't care, but more people use Verizon and they screwed us on that.

Blame verizon for that. They are the ones that stopped the best Android device from coming. Do you think that htc & google didn't want too sell their phone to the largest network in the world? Your comments are ridiculous. The Nexus One is the best Android device still to this day, if you owned one you would know what I say is a fact. After being around for about 9 months they are still top dog, that is just unbelievable with the amount of new devices coming out every week.

yep, definitely not google's fault that the N1 never made it on verizon. no carrier wants a phone as open as the N1 was. i am sure vzw wanted to carry the phone, but also load it down with bloatware and maybe even lock it down (more than the OG droid was, anyway), and google refused, as thats not what the N1 was about. hell, even t-mo and AT&T didnt carry it in their stores, as again, it is not a phone a carrier is going to get behind.

if the N2 does happen, and they made a CDMA (verizon/sprint) version, i will be very interested

@mobilemedic20 you mean AT&T not Sprint. Like the other two posters, I'm all for this. I'm tired of the providers taking control of our phones. Its ridiculous, why does Sprint think it knows something about apps. I hate having to have Sprint Apps all over the place and having to deal with phones with these custom UIs like Sense and Touch Wiz, which I will admit might have been necessary when Android first launched but now just seem unnecessary. I wish there were Android phones like the G2 and Nexus One on Sprint.

I would hardly call the N1 a debacle. Was I disappointed there was no CDMA N1? Absolutely, but I got over it. I still drool over the phone, it's still one of, if not the, best phones on the market. I sincerely hope whoever made the decision to not release on CDMA sees the error of their ways with the N2/NS.

The N1 is by far the best Android device because of all the freedom within the device! the N2 will only be better! How can you not care about this?

Wow dude you have no idea what you're talking about...The Nexus One even though didn't do good on sales, in my opinion has been a better phone than any other phone that has come after it. I mean think about it how many problems has it had compared to the newer phones out there. It set the bar for android phones like for example a 1ghz processor. Need i say more? It was the first to run froyo how many newer phones out there are still on 2.1 or just recently upgraded to 2.2? Its not tied to any carrier eliminating the bloatware. Does not have any kind of chip or program preventing it to be rooted. Its hspa+ capable. It has stock froyo which is way easier to upgrade unlike HTC sense or Samsung touch wiz... The phone just has too many pros. The only cons I can think of is the whole 3g signal thing and not having multi touch when it first came out which was fixed with an update. At this moment nothing else pops into my head. So if this is true about a second Google phone imagine how it would be if the nexus one set the bar for all other android phones after it..... This is awesome at least for me...

The N1 was NOT a debacle, it was poorly advertised by Google and Google gave up early yet it's one of the highest demand phones for the past few months and is still a strong seller, Mobilicity and Videotron here in Canada just got a shipment of them a couple weeks ago and they got instantly sold out the same day (they were for $549 CDN), if you look on ebay they sell for $680-750 and people ARE buying them. I wish I could get a N1 but the ones I find aren't compatible with my carrier's bands.

Now onto the N2, if it's indeed done by Samsung, I don't think it will have very many buyers.

You sound like a disgruntle verizon customer.. focus your anger on them, they are the ones responsible for you not being able to have the Nexus.I love my Nexus and still do not see a phone on the horizon that will pull me from her. Im exited about the N2 , if it brings everything my N1 has plus some more then I will have it on day 1. Nexus was a fail?? LMAO what a moronic statement. Anyone who knows anything knows it was Googles own fault on how they marketed the phone ! What happened with the last batch of Nexus's that was announce by google, they were all sold in less than 24 hrs

Well said.

@Bigmerf - welcome to the boards. I don't know if you've had a chance to review the forum rules, but one of them that you need to be aware of is:

"Respect others - Be courteous to other forum members regardless of their race, sex, sexual orientation, age, etc. Be tolerant of those who disagree with your opinion and discuss differences in a constructive manner. Personal attacks will not be tolerated."

You are certainly welcome to express your opinion, but please be civil about it. Thanks.

Sorry folks, I realize now that I made it sound like I was bashing the phone itself... I never had the N1 (again, because I use Verizon), but I was excited to get one, and I'm sure it is a great phone, sorry for that confusion.

What I meant was that Google's handling of its sales and marketing was a debacle, and nothing short of one. They listed it as a future Verizon phone from the GET go, and it never appeared. Now, maybe Verizon is to blame too, but then all of a sudden it pops on ATT? Out of the blue? Then the rumors about Sprint? And ultimately it was swept under the carpet as a Developer's phone. Doesn't make any sense, and it showed a lack of respect for the consumers.

THAT'S why my excitement for the N2 is tempered. I don't really want to give a damn about another super-duper mystery phone that's awesome to use for the few people out there on the lesser networks (sorry, I'm sure some of you love T-Mo, and that's great, but I think it's an undisputed fact that Verizon dominates service).

mobilemedic20 has nothing to apologise for frankly! I am probably the first to get N1 from the UK last January (bought direct from Google) and I can tell you I now regret buying it.
After 2.2.1 update my phone has been paralyzed - dead! The wifi doesn't connect anymore, 3G connects intermittently, Apps do not update et cetera; and the icing on the cake? No customer service to complain to! If this is not a sham, I wonder what is!
