Does AT&T still block WiFi Calling?

Yeah if you flashed the carrier csc on the unlocked you'll get the Wi-Fi calling but won't get Ota updates until you flashed back the unlocked csc . If your into that, that's a work around.

Hey, so I got the unlocked Z fold 2 today. But don't have WiFi calling option available. Att told me they're unsure if it'll be supported or not. So if I wanted to finish att software via odin, do I want the att download the file for the SM-F916UZNAATT and flash it to my unlocked phone? Or do I do the sm-f916u1 and then select the att software that way?

You can just grab CSC file from carrier and flash that to your unlocked to make it work, but you won't get OTA updates until you flash the unlocked CSC file back

Ok so I only need to odin the csc file and not everything? Thanks for the help. I'm not too worried about updates as i can just do the monthly or every other month if this will get me WiFi calling.

Yeah just the CSC file in it's slot then flash, your welcome!

I guess I should ask where I get the csc. Do I just take it from sammobile? If sammobile, so I search att Fold2 model or the unlocked. Sorry for all the questions. Just really don't wanna have to send this phone back if I can get WiFi calling to work.

You can try sammobile or download frija tool from xda forums and see if it has it , the preferred way.

have friend that upgrade to note 20 with ATT, he was able to use wifi calling, I think it has to do to the area he lives in when he's not on Wi-Fi calling he loses the calls in his house.

Yeah carrier version att has Wi-Fi calling , on unlocked it doesn't with Att.

Another thing that came to mind. Does AT&T restrict their 5G plans on unlocked models?

I've used the unlocked versions of the Note 20 Ultra, Z Flip 5G and the Z Fold 2 5G with my AT&T SIM and got 5G and VoLTE on all. No WiFi calling. Visual Voicemail, both the Samsung built-in and AT&T's app work as well.

Are you on one of the newer AT&T 5G unlimited plans?

Unfortunately, my business premiere account only gives us a 10GB 5G plan. But I ended going with a locked ATT Note 20 Ultra to avoid any issues and decided the Note was a better device for me over the Fold 2.

I've been able to get wifi calling on my last 3 unlocked Samsung phones. Maybe one of the key factors is that I've been using an older SIM card from an AT&T branded Note 9 that is already whitelisted/provisioned in the AT&T system.
Recently, I've flashed the U1 (unlocked) firmware (BL, AP, CP fiields only) along with the U (carrier firmware, been using the TMB/T-Mobile U firmware) of the HOME_CSC file in the CSC section. Leave USERDATA field empty.
I get ALL AT&T Features this way (WiFi Calling, VVM with icon in the phone keyboard screen too, HD Voice, Video Calling) &
NO AT&T Bloatware. I do get the AT&T Splash screen when booting up.
The only thing with this method is no Over The Air updates (you won't even have that section in your settings anymore) & each month you have to download both the U1 & the U firmware for the same update.
It's worth it to me to have functionality & no bloatware.

Yes, the 5G Unlimited plan. SIM has also been in an iPhone 11 Pro Max, which used to confuse the heck out of AT&T's servers, but apparently they now can deal LOL. I didn't flash the phones (some were review loaners from Samsung, so no flashing allowed).

Yeah that's one way of doing it by flashing the U CSC to U1 ..but I don't bother that way

Yeah I've had success with this method as well by using a sim from an ATT branded device. However once you switch to a 5G plan that scenario may no longer work unless you provision an ATT branded 5G device then move your sim to an unlocked device.

Oh boy, I'm sure you are right! Something I'll have to think about in the near future. Maybe I better keep my old AT&T iPhone 6!

Hopefully we can still use the old SIMs as people are saying in the T-Mo discussions. No need for any special "5G" SIM.

Yeah no new sim needed for 5G on ATT.

I have an unlocked S20 and after installing the UI3.0/Android 11 beta firmware, I have WiFi calling on AT&T. Hopefully I will still have it when the official firmware rolls out.
