Does Black Wallpaper save battery?

Hello,
I used to read that some display technology only lights the pixels that are in use. So if you put a black wallpaper, it will save battery life. (Isn't that what they do in Windows 8 ?)
Is this also the case on the one x ?

That's a good point. I know with some screens that it's lit by lights on the sides of the screen and in that case it wouldn't help but with newer screens I'm not sure.

This only applies to amoled screens. You won't see a power benefit on the one x.
