Does calling 911 affect data usage

We were told that dialing 911 from your cell disconnects you from your data usage limits plan

Re: Does calling 911 affect data usage

Calling 911 puts your phone in emergency mode. Which I think disables everything but voice.

It can easily be turned off

No it doesn't affect your data usage. You can call emergency service numbers without a sim. But do not call these numbers messing around

Re: Does calling 911 affect data usage

It seems like you asking if calling 911 gives you unlimited data? That doesn't make sense. All calling 911 does is call emergency services dispatch (i.e. police, ambulance, fire dept); it doesn't use any of your minutes, doesn't even require a sim card to be installed. If you call them and ask for free data, I don't think they'd be pleased. If you're wondering if you can text 911 without being charged for sending a text message, no idea to that one, dunno if 911 even accepts SMS, they might in some areas... If you really want to know I'd suggest look up the local non-emergency number for police, give them a call and ask. Or ask your cellular service provider.
