Does custom ROM like CM7 get rid of typical browser lag?

I'm stuck between the TBolt (1 cent) and the Droid Bionic (200 dollars). I don't like the Bionic's display, and it has an audio output issue, so I'm already leaning towards the TBolt, but the Bionic has one supposedly huge advantage: dual-core CPU.

My impression is that the dual-core CPU improves overall performance of the device, including web browsing, compared to single-core devices.

Will installing a custom ROM such as CM7 on the TBolt smooth out the browsing experience (I'm looking for something in the ballpark of an iPhone or WP7 browsing experience; little to no framerate slowdown when viewing full sites)?

If so, then I see no reason to pay 200 dollars more for the Bionic. If not, then I suppose the Bionic is worth the extra $$$.

Thanks. I hope to make my decision by tomorrow.

My browsing is fast as hell. I really don't get any lag, but it was that way on stock too...

Coming from an iPhone, which is always smooth (not that it loads content any faster!), I always notice a little bit of slowdown when browsing on Android devices on full sites. Especially when using pinch to zoom. Even experienced it on the Droid Bionic. So don't BS me. Was wondering if custom ROMs like CM7 had any effect on the browsing experience.

the reason that iphone is so smoth is they dont have flash support. so if dont want the 1/100 of a second of lag that i dont notice you can just disable flash or have it on demand and be 100% no lag believe me once u get away from apples cage you will never look back :)

IPhone on 3g can't come close to any phone on LTE, not even a comparison in speed. Never used a bionic, but I have not noticed a big difference in browsing, but with cm7 my entire system seems quicker/smoother...I was on stock for 4 months before I rooted. Doesn't sputter when a bunch of stuff is running etc. I assume it is because sense is no longer hogging up rams?

So if you were to, say, go to the Engadget full site and start pinch zooming, scrolling and double tapping, it would still have some minor slowdown akin to the stock browsing experience. It's honestly fine with me as long as it's not too bad. I mean come on... the phone's 1 cent on Amazon LOL. I'm just looking for a good first Android phone that can hold me over until something actually worth my hard earned GWOP comes along.

I have limited time on Lte and do t have it at home here so I can't say, I'm on 3g here..

What does this have to do with anything? I'm talking about how fast the phone renders content in the web browser. Do you have WiFi?

Anyway, at this point I'm basically sure I'm getting a TBolt. The Bionic just isn't worth the price.
