Does Froyo need to "learn" the phone?

I just noticed that the first thing about Froyo that irritated me has gotten significantly better: the unlock screen.
When I first installed the new update, the unlock screen took maybe 2 seconds to fully work (not long, but unusual for my phone)...it'd flicker a lil and then unlock.
Screen scrolling has gotten better, app opening has gotten better. This thing is so trigger happy to the auto rotate, I'm about to turn that off. You just move the phone a lil and all my junk flips on it's side. ok, but it didn't used to be that sensitive.
The other things that are 'broke' with mine seem to still occur, but maybe not as frequent: loosing the ability to play audio/video files. It was later in the afternoon yesterday when I noticed it. And previously it was lunch or earlier when it'd throw that error up about 'this phone cannot play files of this format' or something like that.
And, my battery life is much better. It's not like some others I read, but it's better than it was on day 1 of the update. Doing same stuff.
And I read where other's phones seem to do better after a few days.

So, is it something in Froyo that makes the phone, like fine wine, gets better with time?

Don't know specifically about Froyo, but with BlackBerry theme installs there was definitely a "settling in" period. Not really long, maybe day or so. It wouldn't surprise me if this is the case for Froyo. I've found the presence of apps running on 2.1after installing 2.3 created some issues. If apps didn't behave properly after 2.3, I deleted them (uninstall). Simplified things.

Yeah screen does rotate easy , so does the Incredible about the same there(froyo thing).

Kinda use to it on the dx tho cause already had LP+ installed before update.

Besides for the double lock screen, the sensitivity of the auto rotation has been my only other problem with the 2.2 update. It seems anything I open now in landscape, opens up in widescreen because of the sensitivity.

Droidntn,

Froyo doesn't "learn" the phone. It already knows the phone. But the OS will run smoother some time after the install as it "settles" in. There are a lot of internal processes that run as the OS comes online.
But as I have said redundantly, its better to flash the phone before an install.
