does having GPS on hurt battery life?

I have wifi and 3G on (i am in both a wifi and 3G area). will having GPS on all the time affect my battery? or should i only use it when i need it?

No it won't drain your battery. GPS is only in use when prompted by an application.

No way and it really shouldn't unless you are running a background app that constantly accesses the GPS. I keep mine on because I have never shut it off on any other phone I own/owned.

Only if it's being used frequently by a background app, like using it for location on beautiful widgets for example.
