Does having 'OK Google' detection enabled use a lot of battery?

Hi. :)

I was thinking about how the 'OK Google' voice detection might work. I have the 'Say 'OK Google' anytime' option turned on. I assume this means that the internal microphone must be active all the time. I also assume that it consumes battery power. But how much? How much longer is a charge likely to last is ok google detection is turned off?

I used to have Samsung health set to detect workout which would then tell me how many steps I had taken when out walking my dog. This obviously used one of the internal sensors to monitor movement. I turned it off and now a charge lasts significantly longer. At least 2 hours longer.

And also if anyone knows which other apps may use any of the sensors in the background all the time, which would be the main culprits?

Any info would be really appreciated.

Many thanks. :)

I would expect that having the device "listen" would use battery. Try a day's use with it on, then a day's use with it off and you'll have your answer.
You can find what permissions apps need by going to the app on settings. There you can deny any app access to sensors...

I use both Bixby and Google both always listening and have zero issues with battery. Been up and on it for 18hrs now with 45% remaining.

One thing you may like, an app scheduler. I'm almost sure at some point in your day, O.G. may like a break. 😹✅
