Hi Scott, what settings do you do so your phone can hear "OK Google" when its inactive?
Settings->Voice->Hands-Free Allow requests with device locked. Its set On for Bluetooth device but its not working when the phone is locked and inactive. However somehow it did work couple of times while in the car.
Another annoying thing is that when I turn off the Bluetooth, the cellphone no longer hear my google commands then suddenly it starts hearing....Buggy Buggy Droid. I do remember the very first Android phones had no bugs almost like IPhones, but in our-days racing for popularity, android became like windows (Restart is required to solve problems)
Google team, please watch Apple, they are not trying to use latest buggy technologies and people still love 'em and consider to be luxury. Luxury is not the way it looks like its the way it works! Nowadays with android phones most of the time is spent to fix something.

Actually, none of the responses here are true. Including Phil's. Your phone DOES have to be awake, but you can use "ok google" from the lock screen, home screen, and any other screen..and while web browsing. I know because I can do it with my phone.

Actually, it can be done from the home AND lock screen, and any other screen as well. Mine does.

I actually hate Apple products and have had very little to no problems with Android/Windows.

That's because in this case, he/they is/are in fact, wrong. Where your phone does in fact have to be awake in most cases, "ok google" can be used from both the home AND lock screen, as well as any other screen including while web browsing. I know because I can with my phone.

Although it does not turn on phone from sleep mode, it does unlock phone and if you go to google settings you can set it to work from any page you are on. Such as from you tube, your browser, or any app you are in.

Do you have to have the phone awake to respond to "OK Google", or will that command wake the phone from sleep mode as well?

Actually yes if you launch the Google app go to settings click on voice then click ok Google detection and then click detect on any page this will show you how to use Google from any page even with your phone in sleep mode

Krouri, I'm with Phil on this one. It only works at a home screen (any home screen) or Google now. It does not work on any screen, as you state. For example, if you are in the browser, or in hangouts, you can't just say "Ok, Google."

I think you are wrong my dear, Now It works in every screen

how it works in sleep mode ,any guess
