It works for me only when the screen is on? I thought it did work with the screen off, but I also get crashing errors everytime I toggle the features now on tap.

thanks

You need to go to Settings > Google > Search & Now > Voice > "OK Google" Detection and enable the "Always On" option and train your voice to it.

Anyone have any information about what this does to your battery?

Always on is not an option here for me. i only have:
from the google app
from any screen
trusted voice

thanks

Ok google from screen off never really worked for me. I am hoping google will fix this on 6.0.1

I was wondering the same thing. My phone has been losing 1% per hour overnight. I have disabled the always on option to see if it changes anything. We'll see tomorrow morning.

I have had the always on option activated since 3 days after getting the phone. Battery loss is really negligible..

After throwing Nova Launcher Prime on it, it doesn't work any longer for me. The worst time it doesn't work is when it's connected via Bluetooth to my car.

Worked perfectly fine for me when I had it enabled, got annoying sometimes because it would trigger alongside my Moto 360 :P

In Nova Prime you have to activate the detection. Settings>Gestures & Inputs>"OK Google" hotword.

Works well for me.

yeah, I don't have the always on option, but maybe that's a new thing with the 6p. I'm still making my 5 work. My option is "From any screen" and it says "Responds to your voice . Works when the screen is on or the device is charging." Hmm, maybe another reason to upgrade to the 6p....... :)
