Does removing unnecessary networks free up battery use?

I was on my Droid X in the "Manage Networks" options and noticed it shows me networks I have previously connected to. It says "to conserve battery delete un-necessary networks from the list." I don't connect to all of these networks, but I do like having them in my list since it saves the passphrases. Should I delete ones I only connect to once every couple weeks? Does it really significantly drain the battery to have them in the list?

Something as small as that wouldn't have any noticeable change.
