Does S10 have MST for samsung pay

I like the idea of keeping NFC off and have SP trigger it only when it's needed.

However, are you sure it does that and not just always using MST if you have NFC off?
Positive. It turns it on and off by itself. You get confirmation immediately when using tap to pay.

Well I tried that and it didn't work.

I turned off NFC, and tried at multiple locations, and when I place my phone next to the reader, the screen doesn't light up, nor does Samsung Pay activate. The only way to get it to work was by turning NFC back on.

Mine works all the time. NFC is always off on my phone. I've never turned it on. I'm with Verizon. What carrier are you with? It's possible that it could be carrier specific.

My NFC is also off and I'm on Verizon.

You have to initiate Samsung Pay that is why. I always kept NFC off on my Samsung phones but when I went to pay I would swipe from the bottom of the lock screen to bring up Samsung pay, put it near the reader, and it would work.

I have used Apple Pay since it was first released until I sold my iPhone XS MAX last December. I have always loved how with it, you just hold the phone up to the payment box and Apple Pay knew it was there and would automatically launch.

That is the way I prefer it with Samsung Pay as well. Manually initiating it almost takes some of the fun and utility out of it. Why add an extra step?

But to each his own. Whatever way gives you the warm fuzzies. :)

Oh well then yeah if you want to use it that way then just keep NFC on. I use Apple Pay now but I have the watch so I just initiate it there and go.

You are still going to need to use a fingerprint or pin to allow it work. Swiping up beforehand or opening the app isn't that much more.

Yes most of the places have nfc readers but there are still some without.
Also there are places with nfc readers where for some reason google pay works but samsung pay doesn't.
And it would just be cool to have mst anyway

Everywhere has chip and PIN though, nowhere uses magnetic stripe readers anymore. So MST would literally be useless in the UK.

The thing to wish for is Snapdragon instead of Exynos.

Thought this was funny. So far I've been using Samsung Pay since I got the S10, and its worked pretty much everywhere for me. Even got it to work at the Gas pump. Hit the first snag I've run into yesterday, though...at Best Buy of all places. The payment at the terminal seemed to go through fine, but then their computer popped up having the checkout person asking for the security code on back of the card. Had to dig my credit card out of my wallet just to find the three-digit code. Gotta love a tech store being the first one to throw a kink at using Samsung Pay.

Samsung pay as with google pay, gives you another security code which you use to show the cashier if asked for it.

The app shows the "last four digits for cashier" (of the card number) but didn't jump right out at me where a security code lives in the app. Looking at the app right now and still don't see a three-digit security code...where do you find that?

Very strange, usually CVC is only required with on-line purchases. I've never had this come up. I'd just give the virtual 4 digits like Samsung pay says. Maybe make sure to choose credit and not debit.

Might be what pushes me into an iPhone :( MST was half the reason I was sticking to Galaxy phones.

According to XDA some regions do have MST. For reasons that are unclear, the US and Hong Kong do not have it.
