Does Samsung phones slows down over time?

It has been 3 months since I asked the questions... for the guys who bought their SE7 at or right after launch, how is the performance of your SE7 now?

Just as fast as when I got my s7e around launch imho no slow downs so far

In my case the more remarkable thing about the phone has been the frequency and prompt release of droid updates I have been getting on Verizon, After years and years of practice of being frustrated and disappointed waiting for updates from VZ to drop I would have never expected in my wildest dreams to ever type the words "prompt, frequent, android updates, and Verizon" in the same sentence

Every phone that I have used slows down over time. This includes iPhones. Restart will help, but sometimes a factory data reset is needed

Just like PCs. The more stuff you install, the more files you save, it eventually clogs the system.

Formatting helps.

The phone has been working fine so I haven't felt the need to do any factory resets or cache wipes

Maybe it warms up some during updates and prolonged navigation usage, but that is what I have experienced with many other phones I have had in the past so imho I don't worry about it much

Battery life has been overall very good so that is another factor why I haven't done any resets or cashe wipes

Maybe? My phone seems like its Struggling as we speak, and I know how to clear cache, & others...

Considering S7 Edge for now, but read that Samsung phones usually slows down after a few months. Is this ture? And could it be handled by rebooting the phone weekly?

And, I also read that Samsung phones don't update well... either the carrier 's fault or Samsung 's fault, is this true and how does that affect your experience?

Search for smart manager in your settings. There's a cache cleaner in there. At least on mine there is.

My experience has been than the recent phones (S6 and S7) do not slow down over time on their own. However if you have a buggy or otherwise poor performing app, that can cause a slowdown or increased battery usage. In general, like anything newer/faster/smoother, once you get used to the newer/faster/smoother, it doesn't seem so newer/faster/better anymore.

As a longtime samsung galaxy S series owner (and moto before them), i think all phones do slow down a bit. But I've found that when my Samsung did slow down, I simply did a factory reset. Then reloaded my apps and set up the phone. This seemed to bring it right back.

I got my GS7E on preorder launch day on March 7th & I haven't experienced any slowdowns. I have about 150 apps installed. The only optimization app I use is Greenify's manual app hibernation & its Aggressive Doze. I haven't had slowdown issues on Samsung phones since the GS6E.

But both my Nexus 5 and Nexus 5X experienced slowdowns occasionally.

I'm impressed with Samsung that all of my phones are on the 6.0.1 June security update (Note 4 910C & GS7E).

I've had my 7edge since March 21st and my phone is still going as fast as it did when I first activated it. I've had the s5 before and that started lagging bad after about a few months in so I am quite happy with this phone.

Yes. My old s7 edge immediately lagged 3x more the day the s8 came out. I kid you not. The 820 is a fast chip, and android UI should be nothing for it, so I'm pretty sure it's Samsung's fault.

I had an old LG l90 (3 years old; cost 100 dollars at time of purchase)

The phone was so bad that when i got a phonecall it would start ringing, and then when the ringing is done it would show the dialogue for accepting calls. Essentially, the phone couldn't accept calls.

However, I installed an AOIP rom of 7.1 nougat on it, and now it's fairly snappy. Sure, it lags occasionally, but it's a lot better than before. Not to mention, it runs the dual apps thing fairly well on 880 megs of ram, which is insane.

Long story short, after the lifecycle of a product, you should probably install a custom rom
