So it's my first time getting an unlocked version from Samsung.com. Does anyone know if the unlocked version of the S23 Ultra supports T-Mobile Wi-Fi calling?

I don't know definitively but that was my concern too. Someone else said it doesn't have wifi calling. I guess if thats true you could always flash the tmo version.

I have factory unlocked devices, N20 Ultra & S22 Ultra on T-Mobile. Wifi calling works on both models.

:)

I doubt if that would change on the s23 line.

But as @jtfwTX said, you can always flash T-Mobile firmware version if need be.

That is so awesome it works!! I would definitely buy the unlocked version in the future knowing that now!!

My N20U was my first unlocked phone and being traded in for an unlocked S23U. We switched over to TMo from VZW in November and while a few things are different, wifi calling definitely works but you do have to download the TMo Visual VM app.

my S22 Ultra unlocked works with TMobile's wifi calling.

however, my S22 Ultra broke about 2 months ago (non-stop self rebooting) and i had to use my back up phone, an S20+ which i bought but never even opened. this S20+ is also an unlocked phone from Samsung.com.

just like the S22 Ultra, the S20+'s wifi calling also works.

Yeah TMobile WiFi calling works on unlock firmware they don't butcher the Samsung firmware much carrier or unlock

Thanks for the responses guys! I also got ahold of T-Mobile on Twitter, and one of their reps - disclaiming that he can't strictly guarantee anything - said that the factory unlocked version should be compatible with T-Mobile wi-fi calling. Glad I don't have to give up this feature!

I've seen a lot of questions asking for confirmation of wifi calling. May I ask, what is the big benefit of wifi calling?

I understand what it is.. ...making calls over wifi. I guess I just don't understand why it is such a valued feature. I remeber trying it out many years ago and thinking it doesn't really seem any different than cellular calling. But I've never been a tmobile customer.

What am I missing?

It's nothing particular to T-Mobile but applies to any carrier. Basically some people may have very bad signal at work, home or some other spots they frequent. In those situations having WiFi calling will be of a huge help. You might say why not switch carriers if you don't get coverage. May be they don't get coverage for other carriers as well or may be they like everything else with that carrier and want to stay with them etc.

PS: personally rarely use WiFi calling that's because I get great coverage at home/work and other places I frequently visit.

I got my phone on Saturday (actually on Friday but picked it up a day late). I can confirm that I've been able to make wi-fi calls on my Samsung unlocked S23 Ultra via T-Mobile!

I get excellent coverage at home and work (I live/work in a major city). However I often go on mini-vacations to rural areas, so it helps there. But more importantly, once or so per year, I travel internationally, and wi-fi calling allows me to make calls back to the US. At least with T-Mobile, these calls are treated as domestic, and so I don't incur any fees. That's a pretty nifty feature!
