Does the "turbo charge" for Droid Turbo (8 hours on a 15 minute charge) require a special charger? Works in the car?

Yup, requires a special charger. You can get one for car or wall. Check out the Android Central store.

Yes, however its not brand specific, my fast charger that came w my note4 works fine on the turbo

You need to look for chargers that have Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0 technology built into it. That's the secret sauce that gives the "turbo charge."

P.S. Any micro-usb cable will work with the turbo charger, which is really nice.
