AC Question

Hello All, I am attempting to pair my Fossil Q 1st gen with the Fossil Q app (it's telling me my watch is not paired), but when I select the option to pair and select the type of device it tells me "I need a different App" and suggests Android Wear. I have it paired through Android Wear, so does this mean the Fossil Q app is obsolete for me? The manual seems to suggest that the apps would work in concert. Thanks in advance.

Hi. Welcome to Android Central.

No, you shouldn't be using the Fossil Q app with any of the Fossil Q Android Wear smartwatches. You only need the Android Wear app.

The Fossil Q app is only used with Fossil's "hybrid" smartwatches. Those watches have a mechanical face (not a screen), but can still connect to your smartphone to vibrate for notifications, and use buttons to launch apps. (Example here: https://forums.androidcentral.com/e...inless-steel-sku-ftw1148p.html&token=ahnNi_BF )

But with your Fossil Q, you use the Android Wear app, not the Fossil Q app.

FYI, if you want to reply, you'll have to create a Android Central account.
