Does the Honor 8 have heating issues?

Hi all,

I'm about to purchase this phone but I've been reading that the device gets a bit hot even under not heavy usage. Is this true?
Even on youtube there are a few videos where they compare the Honor 8 with other devices like Galaxy S7 or One Plus 3 and the Honor 8 is always the hottest one.

I'm not a gamer (well not on my phone) but I was wondering how the device feels under normal usage, whatsapp, email, chrome, google maps, taking pics, etc.

Cheers

Mine never gets warm and I use it a lot.

I've seen those videos too.
I'll say no reason to worry.

Agree with Guytronic.

Even playing games, Pokemon, etc never felt it get warm. I wouldn't worry about heat at all. Definitely worth your purchase.

Thanks for your feedback there is nothing more annoying for me that having a toaster on my hands. :D
I've never had a phone with Kirin processor so I was wondering whether they run hotter than snapdragon.

Have two H8's and not one instance of heating. Not with the fast charger or other chargers. It continues to be super fast which I think speaks very highly of the HiSilicon SOC and the non existence of heating.

The only time I've had mine get noticeably warm is if I have it in my dashboard mount charging while using Nav, streaming music, and the sun is directly on it.

It could also be the application or cooling or whatever. My Moto g4 plus ran hot, but my ZTE zmax pro ran cool despite both using the same CPU.

Likewise my s7 edge and note 7 ran significantly cooler than my HTC 10 when using navigation while charging... the latter would be very heavily throttling once it hit 130F

I have not felt my phone get warm. I have played CoC, Madden watched multiple movies back to back and still o have not felt the phone get warm

My Honor 4c has prob burnt out after 14 months. At least it's too hot to touch and the sound has gone. Can't get it repaired: a useless bit of kit.

FYI, this is the honor 8 forum... It's a completely different phone

Mine hasn't gotten hot. It may be warmer than other phones (never seen this claim myself) but it's never gotten noticeably hot. My SOT is normally just web browsing, but I've played games for 1+ hours at a time. . No issues

Just for grins here are what CPU-Z and AIDA64 show in the thermal measurements for the honor 8 that I have:

CPUs has had an issue with the c to f conversion for a long time. Not sure if it has been resolved but you can try to change settings to see if it correctly converts

The difference between the 2 apps is odd I thought.
Probably how they poll I guess.

I was setting up the new phone and downloading apps and it only got slightly warm. The phone seems to prefer heavy throttling over letting the phone get hot when installing lots of apps

I've had mine get warm to the touch with literally one game, Vector2. Everything else it does great with.
