Does the Note 8 have pop up texts?

On my S5, when I received a text while on any screen or app, the text would pop up on the top of the screen. I could reply from that pop up or ignore it. On my new Note 8, the texts are not doing that. I have scoured the settings for any way to turn this on to no avail. Any thoughts? Or is this another feature that Samsung or Sprint? have eliminated?

If you're using the stock messages app Go to Settings>Notifications and you can turn it on.

My note is from Sprint. When I go to the Notifications - messages, it doesn't look like your page. I hard press and it has All notifications - Show silently - and Set as priority. No Pop up Display. I can't seem to find that exact screen on my Note from Sprint. Maybe I'm just not looking in the right place. I started at Settings - Notifications - then it says All Apps or you choose which ones you want. So I hard press on Messages. It goes to the 3 I posted above. Then If i hard press the Icon it takes me to the App Info - then Message settings - where I have the notifictions button pushed - it also lists Backgrounds - Quick responses - Block messages - Chat settings - Font size and More settings ( this is about MMS and split view). No where in all that do the words Pop Up appear. Very frustrating!

It's in the settings of the messaging app. Hit the 3 did in the upper right corner and you'll see settings.

When I his the 3 dots - then Settings- it goes to the Messages Settings like I posted above -- Notifications (i have on) I just pressed that button and it did take me to that page above! But I already had the pop-up display pressed on. I just restarted my phone. Maybe it will work sometime. But thank you I would never have pressed the Notification button unless you mentioned getting to it on the 3 dots. We see.

I feel the text pop-up is too fast. It goes away within a few seconds and if you're fast enough to tap it, all it does is take you to the app itself. It would be awesome if you can just respond directly from the pop-up.

I want until the popup disappears. Then I drop the notification shade and reply from there so I don't have to leave whatever I'm doing. But I agree that would be faster if you could do that.

This is how my S5 was. A large pop up shows with the text and buttons on the bottom with respond or view on it. It pops up over any screen, and doesn't disappear in 1/2 a seconds so you can actually read it and respond without leaving the app you are on. I wish they would have this on the note 8!! I really thought it wasn't popping up because I never saw it happen. Too fast! Please bring it back Samsung!!

That's strange this phone won't let you reply from the pop up. Even the iPhone allows you to swipe down the pop up notification and reply immediately and never leave the app you're currently in.

Well you don't have to leave the app to respond as you can use the notification shade to do this. But it really should be able to be done via the pop up I agree.

Ok. Found fix. You have to loose edge lighting but the reply option is back.

My edge lighting is disabled, still barely able to catch a pop up sms.

I have been able to get it so far no issue after disabling edge lighting. So I'm good.

Yes, my Note 8 shows a pop up from on board message app and offers a way to reply from the notification.

This did work! Thank you very much. I still would like it bigger but it toes let you press reply now and it doesn't disappear almost immediately.

When you go into the message app tap the 3 dots, go to settings, then press & hold on Notifications, it will bring up another screen that's where the pop up display selection is your looking for is.

The s7 edge had the feature where you could reply from the popup. Why in the world would they take that away? Who wants to have to bring down the notification tray to respond? What's the point of having the popup if you're going to have to pull down the notification tray or open the app to respond anyway? Straight baffling.

Verizon Message+ app will do pop-up texts, and will also allow you to respond from that popup. I use it all the time. And FYI - you don't have to be a Verizon subscriber to use Verizon Message+ app. And it also works on tablets too.
