Does the s7 edge waterproofing mean steam proof?

I know the certification is dust and water proof. But is it also steam proof? Can I leave my phone in a hot steamy bathroom during a shower?

Thanks.

Call me crazy but I have been listening to music with my phone in the shower for the past couple of days.

It is not steam proof although you should be able to leave it in the bathroom, I would advise against bringing it into the shower. It was not tested under hot water conditions.

I have kept ever smartphone I've owned in bathroom during showers in fact keep old phone in bathroom 24/7. Never had a problem. I don't want my phone or my cat in the shower with me.

My son's left his S5 in the bathroom while he showers for the last 2 years with no problems, and it's missing the USB port cover. I think the S7 will be fine. I wouldn't hold it over a steaming tea pot, but the bathroom should be ok.

The nano coating stops water droplets from entering the phone but not guaranteed to stop water vapour.

To be safe, I put my phone in a ziploc bag before bringing it into the shower. Even though the S7/Edge have great water resistance, I won't chance it.

I could be wrong but I didn't think the s7 had the nano-coating applied to it. I thought Sammy just sealed it at the ports, speaker etc to give it it's water resistance.

I actually left my phone in my pants pocket by accident that was in the bathroom with me during a steamy shower. S7 edge survived fine.

Won't be repeating that mistake though! Just to be safe.

Hey I checked directly with Samsung on Facebook and here's the direct quote
"The Galaxy S7 edge has been awarded the IP (Ingress Protection) rating of 68, and is safe to use in a steam filled room!"

I keep a BT Speaker in the bathroom all the time and use it with my phone (for several years now, before water resistance was really a thing in phones) and never had any issues with any of my phones.

Steam rises and leaving it on the counter or someplace low should be good. During the winter, I normally leave mine in my room near the bathroom for the BT speaker and that works great too.

I do agree with others, I would suggest against showering with it. :D
