(By default, CDMA phones are unlocked, but if they're not on the carrier's list of allowed phones, they won't work - that's how CDMA phones are locked but can be called unlocked - they won't reject the SIM card of another carrier [that's what happens in a locked GSM phone], they just won't work. So make sure you check with Verizon or Sprint before paying for service, to see if your particular phone will work on their towers.)
