I was thinking about buying an unlocked Droid Razr Maxx. Right now I am still using Verizon Wireless with a 150 mb data plan on my LG EnV touch. When I got that plan, it said it would work for feature and smartphones. I called a Verizon Wireless representative and asked what I would have to do to switch services and she said that I would have to upgrade to a $30/month data plan to be able to use the plan because the phone requires a micro sim card to be activated. The micro sim card gives access to the 4G. Is she lying or is this true? I really don't want to pay $30/month. I'd be really happy having that phone on my 150 mb data plan because I would never go over. I'd probably be using wi-fi all day as my college has routers everywhere.

You can't, you have to have the minimum data plan ($30/month) to activate this or any other smartphone on Verizon. No getting around it.

I really don't know how you could not go over 150MB with a 4G smartphone as I use that much data in the first day or two of my bill cycle and I use wifi a lot as well?

My wife uses that same plan for her blackberry, but it only works because BB compresses the data before sending it so she's never been close to the 150MB limit. On a 4G droid you'd be asking for trouble trying to use that plan.

You need a special blackberry data plan for Blackberry (BIS or BES). It's not the standard data plan that Android uses so it can't be the same one he's using for his LG EnV.
