Does using the developer option to keep the screen awake make the screen flicker?

It started flickering after I used that for two days. The quick fix was to keep clearing cache partition in the recovery/boot mode.

I just got the new kitkat update today on my S4 (Verizon), which fixed the screen. I don't want the screen to start flickering again, so I was wondering if that was the problem...

Or was it just a software problem?
