does Voice Dial require 'training'?

I have always been a fan of Samsung devices because of its easy voice dialing and no need to train.
However; I find myself frustrated with the voice dial app. No matter what contact name I say, it doesn't recognize any of them.
Do I have to train it? how? the menu does nothing, hard press on it does nothing, what to do what to do?

It was frustrating to me as well. You really have to enunciate & articulate.

This is something that should get resolved with Froyo. The Google Voice Actions on Froyo actually work quite well for this and many other things.

I am also frustrated that when on my jawbone icon and I voice dial, it will not bring up the name I had called. I speak clearly.

I installed vlingo. It works a bit better. I like the way the app works too. I replaced the standard google voice with vlingo as my default.

Deff works better for translating text too for sending messages. With the standard google stuff it cuts me off before I finish speaking and hardly gets it right.

I also had many problems with the voice dial. I went with VLingo and I am much happier. It works with my Jawbone and with the built in mic. It also has a driving mode that is really awesome. It is free... give it a try..... The bluetooth will not work unless you are on a 2.2 ROM. I use TrulyEpic as my ROM and it is working great.
