A lot people in one of a local forums keep saying their G4 got motherboard problem, need to replace it in LG support center, and LG even ran out of motherboard to replace so some people have to wait for weeks. I am not sure is this true worldwide or just some fake marketing. Please share if your G4 got similar problem.

I doubt it's a widespread issue, but things like that definitely do happen. Not just with the G4, but with all phones. Is yours having that issue or why were you interested in knowing this?

because I would like to buy G4 later but I have to make sure this is not a common problem.

I've not heard anything about this other than Sprint recalling a certain lot of phones, and I'm not fully sure of the validity of that. I have had my G4 (Verizon) since the beginning of July and have had no problems with it and am planning on getting my wife a G4 next month.

Ah, OK. You're fine. I know a few people that have one and they haven't had any issues with theirs, and I haven't seen anything about MoBo failures here on AC

Mine came from a good, loving, two parent family, and is quite well adjusted ;).

I think it is a local version problem. Two main forums in my city having a lot of report the motherboard of G4 just screw up. I wouldn't try to get one.

I had a problem with my early release device. Started repeated rebooting and looked at a number of forum threads saying the same thing. Got a warranty replacement (last week). Seems ok but who knows...

I am in the United States and have an AT&T LG G4 and just this morning my phone was working fine. Alarms were going off, I was receiving all my notifications, but as soon as I unplugged it from my charger, the phone shut off. Since then, it has not turned back on. I have tried battery pulls and even just trying to randomly turn it on. A few times it buzzes and started turning on, the LG splash page loads, followed by the AT&T splash page and then the screen goes black again. Once or twice it actually started up the "Optimizing Apps for Android 1 of 126..." but around app 7 or 8 it shuts off again.

Not really sure what to do here, but I am very frustrated.

Yeah, I think I am going to try and do that after work. You think they will do that even if I bought it in June?

My G4 did shut off on me one day. When i turned it back on it would do the "optimizing apps" thing....then shut off. Had to remove battery just to get it to boot. Same "optimizing app" screen...then shuts off. Took it to Geek Squad and they ordered me a "new" re-furb phone. That was almost 2-wks (11 days) ago. No phone. I've called and went to my local Best Buy and they say its back ordered. Now I'm getting emails from Geek Squad saying I need to send in my old phone or risk getting charge the full amount of a NEW phone. Realllly?! I like the LG design of their phones since the original G. But i do have to admit that I am starting to feel its time to try a different manufacturer. I was really thinking of the V10 but getting a nasty taste right now.

I have the same problem in Thailand with early-released device. Mine was bought around end of May. Repeatedly rebooting symptom with shortly display LG logo and then again and again was the way the problem was.

I left my under-warranty device with authorized LG service shop where the representative uncomfortably told me that this would be a problem of automatic update of new firmware named "V10f" to the system.

Nevertheless, my motherboard had gone so I did have to drop my phone there since last Thursday (Nov 19). The shop firstly told that it would take about five days. I'd been waiting without any call. Today I just followed up and the call center (after checked with that shop) informed that they will have to wait for this replacement till next week. This means I would have to wait for more than two weeks to get this repair done (but as others said, who knows it will be completed solved?).

Anyway, that shop also informed that the new-lot motherboards have already come with the latest version of that firmware. So all here are just for your information. But I do have to wait and see!

hi, i bought a G4 3 months and it's still like new. All of sudden, my phone went off and start in an endless loop. the second day it went completely dead. I went to LG store, and they told me to change the motherboard at a cost of 400$ almost same price as the phone. My phone is not under warranty, as i bought it online.

Have you guys found any solution for this, or do you know any online store where i can buy a motherboard for a cheap price?

thanks, eddy

My LG g4 started rebooting itself and in the end would start up and stayed on the lg g4 welcome screen.

Update: Best Buy GeekSquad ended up sending me a $450 gift card to go buy a new phone since the motherboard was back ordered at least 2wks. So I go in to try a different phone....like the Galaxy Note5...but the only phone that I could get that I liked at that price was the LG G4. So I got another G4. This one IS running much cooler than the other phone. Playing games on this phone doesn't get as hot as my last phone. Hope this one won't die and bring on Marshmallow!

My phone gave up on me almost 5 weeks ago now, and I am still without it, I am from Ireland and have the generic LG G4 H815 European model 32GB with Black leather back. I contacted LG customer support who advised me as I am in ireland I need to contact their approved repairer in ireland, which I did and subsequently posted it to them the following day for repair, well, this has been a nightmare from day 1, the repair centre had it for a week and said that it would be repaired by the end of the same week, which I was fine about, then on Friday of that week, they called me to say that they wont repair it as LG haven't given them the go ahead as they will only repair phones that are purchased in UK or Ireland (the LG G4 isn't avail in the Irish market from retailers), so I went back on the phone to LG UK and they said that it should be repaired, it taken 2 1/2 weeks for LG to instruct the Irish repair centre to go ahead and fix it, and now they have the go ahead they don't have the part, (Main Motherboard) and I have to wait for another 2 weeks for the part to come from Holland, and then another 1 week for repair. Total nightmare trying to get it fixed. I love the phone and will be getting the LG G5 when out in April, but their customer service with this issue has been rubbish and almost enough to put me off purchasing anything else from LG. My whole house is LG, all appliances etc.. They offered me 3 months extended warranty as form of compensation..... here's hoping that I get my phone back before the G5 is readily available.. LOL.
