Does your S8 have the data on/off toggle shortcut?

I hate it when carriers make changes to the software. The T-Mobile S8 Plus that I used to have didn't have the shortcut. And I recall my previous S7 on AT&T not having it either. We all know why carriers did this: so you would go over your monthly data and push you to pay for their unlimited plans. My only resort was to keep on putting the phone on airplane mode when I'm not needing it to save data. Does your S8 it? Which carrier do you have? Thinking about the S8 Active but will have to face this issue.

I seriously doubt that is a plan to make anyone go over their data limit. Regardless, not sure why you're worried about it as you don't have the S8 anymore. Mine does. For those who don't, and don't want to go to settings, apps like Tiles can add it to the dropdown.

Yep I have it on my Verizon version.

You didn't have to go into airplane mode.. just because the quick toggle wasn't there doesn't mean the menu option wasn't there. All you had to do was go into the actual settings and then to data usage. From there you could toggle mobile data on or off.

I don't have it on my AT&T variant. I honestly don't think I'd ever turn it off though. My plan just throttles data if I go over rather than charging more. I've never gone over though. I almost always have access to WiFi.

I can see the toggle being useful for those who have a low usage plan. Toggling off, say during the night, would keep apps from downloading or calling home and using unnecessary data. I think removing it from the notification dropdown is stupid, but as we noted, it's still available in Settings.

I agree that it's lame that carriers remove things like this. Yes, you can still get it in the settings but why remove it from the quick settings? I was just saying, it didn't affect me personally.

I've never seen a Verizon phone without it, some phones you had to enter settings, but it was always there.

I'm in canada and i didn't have the mobile data tile either , and no it wasen't in any settings what i did is re-add it via adb commands here's the link
https://www.xda-developers.com/how-...ttings-tile-toggle-on-samsung-galaxy-devices/

it's a pretty easy tutorial takes about 10 mins from the start (there's a bunch of other stuff you can do with adb too but i won't go in details)
with that i was able to get both the mobile data and mobile hotspot tiles.

*keep in mind that these tiles will not stay over a complete reset or if there's an update for your s8.*

That's really weird, even my really cheap backup phone ,Samsung j3 has the toggle switch. I turn off data on this all the time because it's a tracfone.

It's a lengthy process. I usually end up leaving it on or just use the airplane mode shortcut. Darn AT&T and now T-Mobile?

Definitely more lengthy then a quick toggle .. But for someone who truly wants to save on data .. I say 2-3 more taps is worth it versus a data overage.

Or like i mentioned before do the adb setup takes about 10 mins the first time but adds a semi permanent toggle in your notification shortcuts.

Or just do what I do .. have unlimited data and never care ;).

I'm in canada and my carrier dosen't offer that (i don't even know if any do)
+ unlimited data is useless to me (6Gb is even too much as my carrier dosen't charge for streaming music xD).

Also if unlimited was available here it would probably be expensive as hell

True. I am currently at 104 GB this cycle (it resets tomorrow) -- and that costs me $31-33 a month (taxes and all). Hard to beat really :P.

Holy crap xD i knew u.s had it cheap but that's like half of what i pay and i'm limited to 6GB 0.0 i pay about 75$ but my cellular plan had an update in price and is now like 95$ (my price didn't go up though thank god).

1. There's no need to "toggle off...during the night"....regardless of your plan, as long as you're at home and on Wi-Fi.....(which is where most people are overnight), with no data being used

2. "calling home".....does not use data

So, what is it you're REALLY trying to say?
