Don't Buy Moto X, Very Fragile phone

Hi Android Central readers,
If you are planning to buy a new moto X please avoid doing so and instead get your hands on better devices such as HTC One M8 or the One PlusOne. The screen of Moto X 2014 is very fragile and cannot even sustain a fall from just one feet and you obviously do not want to put your smartphone in a showcase instead of using it. Also when Moto Team is complained about the same, they say we are not concerned anyway you will have to pay for the damages.
So please avoid buying it.

Hi Android Central Readers,
I'm a bit of a clutz and probably shouldn't own a phone, so I'm gonna blame the people that made the phone instead of taking responsibility for my own actions because what fun is that? So anywhoo, you guys should buy phones which I have never dropped(I've never owned them, but lets not dwell on facts) because those phones don't make me feel so clutzy. And did I mentioned that when I called motorola they refused to take the blame for me dropping my phone? The nerve of that company! If they wouldn't have made the phone I never would have dropped it! So yeah, I'm a clutz so you guys should buy different phones. And I don't like to put a case on my butter covered phone, so nobody in the world wants to use a case either...obviously.
kthxbye

It happens. It's a chance you take if you don't put it in a case, bumper, etc. Even then the screen can break if it lands the wrong way. These newer phones have those sexy curved screens with little to no bezel, so they're trickier to protect, but it's not going to stop me from owning one.

Hold on here. Doesn't Motorola replace the broken screen for you one time? That's what my paperwork says.

Troll. Disappeared and never referenced in his OP that HE dropped HIS device or that HE complained to Motorola...

If you are concerned about dropping your phone, don't carry it. Just leave it on the table and admire it from afar.

I have owned both versions and find them to be quite sturdy phones. I don't use a case but I have purchased the MotoCare Accidental protection plan on both. Maybe you should have done the same. I have used this insurance and had no issues getting a new phone. Also according to this, it's tougher than others on the market.

This guy is a troll.. he posted the same thing in XDA developers site. I cannot link yet.

It uses GG3 much like the other two devices you mentioned. There should be no substantive difference.

Gotta weigh in on this one. You drop any phone it will break. Here's an idea don't drop it. If I went on that theory I would never of had a Nexus 4. For Christ's sake the phone was all glass, and I never put it in a case from day one. One of the best phones I ever had. Sold that phone in mint condition, not a scratch.

Got my Moto X, and leave it out of the case. Do put a case on in certain situations as it has a leather back and that can tear. Yes I guess I baby it a little bit, but when you drop 5 bills on a new phone you want it to stay pristine. It depends on the user. So before you bash a phone, take a look at who dropped it not who made it.

I broke my 2013 Moto X screen once, and Motorola replaced it free of charge with advanced exchange. Shortly thereafter it was reported that they were offering everyone one free replacement. I thought I read about them making a similar announcement regarding the 2014 model. However I must be mistaken on that front, because this is not the first thread I've seen about someone complaining of being charged to fix a dropped phone.

I would recommend using a tempered glass screen protector. If you drop your phone with one of those on there, it will likely just break the protector, which is a relatively inexpensive item to replace. It also preserves the look of the phone as well as the feel of the touchscreen. Also if you're relatively accident prone and prefer to rock your phone naked, Moto Care warranty might be a worthwhile investment.

Yeah I guess your smartphone never slipped off your hands so have the nerves to tell me this. Can't we expect smartphone worth $600 to survive a fall from single piece.

Sucks but be more careful. Have had both versions of the Moto X. Both are great phones. Worried you are going to drop it and break it get a case. If you aren't man up.

Such as is life! Take your chances but if you use a bumper and shock resistant glass protector; it will help but not guaranteed however. Just don't drop it in the first place is my thoughts. Anything made of glass usually breaks when hitting a solid surface.
