DON'T buy Sprint's "Body Glove Cover" *broken phone picture*

sorry to hear bout the damage to your phone. I cant say enough about my Seidio Innocase, my evo survived two 4ft falls, one onto a parking garage floor and the other onto black top, not a scratch on my phone

Ya I actually fell asleep with my Evo in that same case, when woke the case was broken right at the volume buttons.

Are you kidding? They don't make cases that protect your phone from a three foot drop? That's easily the most common damage a phone could sustain. Why even go through the R&D of making a case if your phone's screwed that easily?

Lol, good luck.

Good luck on the replacement. I've been debating whether to get a Seidio Pt case and seeing those images has pushed me in that direction assuming I don't win the contest. Wishful thinking.

The case would not have caused more damage. Simple law of the conservation of energy from Physics. The case absorbed some energy as it broke. Some of the energy was imparted to the phone which bounced out and onto the ground where it absorbed the remaining energy.

Without the case the phone would have received all of the energy of the fall and probably would have sustained the same or more damage.

Under those conditions the energy was clearly sufficient to destroy the phone. The case could not have generated more energy than was available from the height. QED

I am sad for your loss, but the situation would not have been any better without the case.

Try the Rocketfish skin. It is made out of some kind of shiny rubber. It fits really tight. It actually takes some effort to get the skin on. It is one piece too so you don't have to worry about it breaking or coming off during a phone. All of the side buttons are covered and does take some effort to press them at first. But after a while, you Qik get used to how to use the side buttons with the skin in. I bought it from BestBuy for about twenty bucks. Best skin I have ever had.

The case coming off during a fall shouldn't be much of a problem. In fact, doing so would take away some of the energy of the impact. If you watch Indy car racing, their cars are designed to come apart easily just for this reason. The energy of an impact is taken away some by the pieces coming off the vehicle.

Of course... I have had problems with the case for other reasons. The thin strip on the top bezel near the volume button has now busted TWICE. Exact same place. Unfortunately, I can't get to a Sprint run Sprint store (the ones around here where I'm vacationing are owned by a third party), so I'm now outside of 30 days from my original purchase. They replaced the first which broke after 2 days. Not sure they'll do it again.

I wonder if it would have fared better in a silicone case? Isn't 3 feet the standard industry drop test? Most of the case packaging I've seen so far has some sort of damage disclaimer so I wouldnt count on any of them protecting a phone from a drop.

I've dropped mine from about 4-4.5' on a foam ergo mat in a silicone case and afaict nothing broke. It bounced/flung itself around several times and the last bounce was face first onto the concrete floor. it was like some slow motion horror scene.

I'm most likely getting the case-mate tough case when it comes out since its pretty much guaranteed that I will drop it again from at least 3' and it will probably be on concrete.

Dude that really sucks. I was just about to buy one of these.. the Sprint Store guy suggested the Sedio for just this reason.

Hope your insurance claim is quick!

I got that same case and I dropped it out of my pocket and onto a tile floor and nothing happened to the case or the phone. Some of these cases may be more for cosmetics than protection. I originally had the silicone case from Best Buy, and even though it looks cheaper, it may offer better impact absorption than the Body Glove 2-piece snap on.

I will eventually upgrade to a better case. A friend had the OtterBox Defender Case for his Ipod, and something rugged like that would be great for the Evo.
