Want to do something you will probably wish you didn't do???
Go to settings>accessibility>vision>galaxy talk back and turn it on...

Especially if you are somewhere where you need the phone to be quiet. Doesn't matter if you put the phone on mute, or vibrate or try to turn the volume down...the phone just keeps on talking to you NON-STOP with every touch and every gesture and AAAAGGGGHHHHH:confused::confused::confused:

You can always shut it off but it aint easy ...I dare you to try it! ;)
Reply back to let me know if you try it. ;)

Re: Don't do this!

I did it once accidentally. I completely agree with you. Unless you can't read the screen, don't do it.

Re: Don't do this!

I work with a guy that is blind so I'm very aware of what this does. He navigates the phone flawlessly with it. Pretty impressive.

Re: Don't do this!

I never understood how people do this accidentally. I work at retail and I get customers coming in with that issue daily. I don't get how the heck someone can activate that accidentally. It is weird to me. Lol

I know you were really worried about getting the phone because of the forum threads on different problems - what do you think now that you've had it yourself for a while?

Re: Don't do this!

Sorry for the long delay in replying...but...My Edge is working very good. I do not use the fast charger. Don't need to at this point. Besides, the phone seems to charge very quickly with a standard charger. No problems with screen rotation, but then again I have not had the phone get real hot yet so who knows if a defect is lurking? That's the primary reason to not use the fast charger for me. I use Nova Prime, F-Lux, SwiftKey, and Linked Volume Control all available from the Play Store and all is working well! I hope that whenever Verizon releases the Lollipop Updates and any other Samsung patches that I will be able to go back to using the built in Auto Brightness. As for Nova one of my primary reasons for using it is the ability to change more settings. TouchWiz is OK but I do not like that I cannot move the app drawer icon on the dock, as well as a few other adjustments. The stock keyboard is OK but the predictive text does not compare to SwiftKey. It would be nice if there was a default way to link the ringer volume with the notifications but since there isn't I am using a third party app called "Linked Volume Control". It is not great but better than nothing. So far so good!

Never use Talk Back. It's a tutorial that prevents many apps on your phone.

Never never never do it!!!!! I wished they would remove it. It took me forever to turn it off but thanks to this message board, I turned it back off. You would think it would be a feature to allow you to speak commands to the phone. No, it's a tutorial that talks to you as you press buttons and not everything is accessible.

Hi jaseman#AC, I just bought a samsung galaxy s5 and was testing out some features and the last one I tested was that damn talkback crap! Can you PLEASE tell me how to turn it off when the password is set. When I try to enter my password, it says the letters but they are not entered into the password field. So now I can't access my phone and I'm going overseas in a couple of days! HELP!
Kind regards,
Jim (xhermes1)

OMG..I never really meant for anyone to turn on that feature! Nobody turns it on by "accident" but we do it to see what it does and then BAM we're screwed. I don't even have the Galaxy Edge any longer. I have moved on the the much better (in my opinion) Moto X Pure! I do not remember how I managed to finally get it turned off but it was not easy or any fun at all. I just know now to never try that feature on any phone again. I hope you or someone else figures it out for you. You might have to go to your carrier store to get them to assist you.

I have done it accidentally and now it wont allow me to access my settings to turn it off...
so HOW do you turn it off?

If we're talking about the same option you have to double click everything. ☺

This just happened to me on the S8, what a nightmare and between Samsung and Google, finding assistance immediately is impossible as we are subjected to forums. You mentioned no one would activate it by accident, on the S8 if you manage to click the volume to up and down at the same time it activates. Sadly you can swipe up with two fingers to access settings, double clicking each option to disable it for that moment but I ended up hitting it again I think by squeezing the volume rocker picking my phone up activated it yet again in the middle of the night. Great feature but Google and Samsung need to offer a permanent disable of the volume rocker from activating. If you're listening Google, get with the program.
