Hello all,

Do we know if it runs native android. Will I be able to load up any APK onto it such has XBMC?

We will have to wait. I don't think we know exactly. There will be some customizations to enhance the TV experience (I would think)

Engadget says this run android apps in their article, but I've seen them post flat out wrong info before. If it does, I would consider buying.

It will come running Lollipop apparently so I'm guessing you can run any Android app, like Netflix, Amazon Prime Video or any game of your choosing as they're selling a game controller separately.

If it does, I'll be putting $99 on my AMEX card on Friday. I hate that there has been no jailbreak for the Apple TV 3rd generation and I hate using low-speced past generation devices for XBMC.

I give it two weeks for the Nexus Player to be rooted :D
and a month for a full custom ROM to be out and about.

It will run Lollipop without all the bloatware you see on phones and tablets that aren't a Nexus device. That's the beauty of the Nexus line... pure Android. As far as apps are concerned.. you will have access to the Google Play Store.

You should be able to sideload any android app, how it behaves is another question. Google chainfire which is a launcher for android TV. I read an article on androidpolice. I'd post the link but am a newbie and can't until my 10th post.

I have the ADT-1 Android TV developmental box and it runs Xbmc without a hiccup. You can have XBMC running and exit out, start playing a game, and go back to XBMC right where you left off. Side-loading games and apps is not a problem. You can even use an app called: Sideload Launcher to launch your apps from the Leanback launcher.

One review I've read says that the Play Store has a few dozen selected apps. If that's true, even the Google TV Play Store had more.
