are there going to be any aftermarket dot view cases? I cant justify spending $40-$50 on a case I might not like, or use all the time.

unless someone has one they want to sell cheap.

I found out you can activate it by placing a magnet on the screen, dot view pops up.

looks kind of cool

I think the extra cost might have to do with the capacitive touch front. There were some that popped up cheap on Ebay when they first released the Dotview cases but didn't support the capacitive element.

Also for the fact that they can, and most likely will, update dot view with more features.

The case has zero electronics in it. It's all the screen.

The magnet can be placed on the back left middle side of the device as well.

I've already gotten a few dot view app updates. Mostly bug fixes but the software is on the play store and they can update it at any time.

It does have a capacitive layer though, to recognize touch input

its all screen. you can place a magnet on the back of front to access it and still do the touch gesturss

No, the front flap of the dot view case has a clear capacitive film that will recognize touch input. With the flap closed, you can swipe and have the phone respond. Read the review here on android central

hope this thread is kept alive.. the HTC Dot View case should be marketed more.. you'd be surprised how many people find it cool as is.. i could only imagine how much more "cool factor" the case would have if it supported gmail/twitter/INSTAGRAM (FACEBOOK, MEH) etc! omg that would be a nerdgasm.

Yeah, you can clearly see the capacitive layer if you hold it up to light. The holes over the speakers are perfectly clear and go straight through the case while the rest of the holes are a little hazy. I actually noticed it when i was trying to blow some stuff out of the holes then I read the review and it made sense.
