Double GB promotion and data package question

That doesn't match what I have been told in multiple chats with Verizon.

I work as an Indirect Verizon sales rep and have confirmed with both my VZW rep/trainer/contact and an in store rep I am friends with that this is like the unlimited data plans. As long as you keep an LTE smartphone on the line and don't change the feature yourself it is yours indefinitely.

@ MissJennell: Please stop spreading inaccurate information. When you renew a contract on VZW you renew under the same plan/features/terms you were under before unless you change them. The only exception I have ever seen was when they moved everyone off of the old America's Choice 2 plans a few years ago, and even that was linked to changing to a new device that was "incompatible" with America's Choice II.

Can u answer one for me then? If I get ththis but I don't live in a 4g area will I still be throttled after 2 gigs of 3g.

3G/4G "areas" are irrelevant. It only matters that you have a 4G capable device.

Exactly. And VZW does not throttle people who go over 2GB. That's TMobile. Verizon throttles the top 2% of data users on the network which is basically the people using Pandora, Netfix, and things like that all day long. Most of us will never have to worry about that.

Let me rephrase because I don't think you u derstand the question. Currently for unlimited data users Verizon throttles 3g at 2 gigs. (Check the fine print) I'm wanting to know if this is also practiced on the tiered data plans. It hardly seems right but then, not much does.

According to Verizon's own explanation. They "optimize" the top 5% which they then define as using more than 2 gigs.

I have read the fine print, I sell the phones and need to be able to explain it to customers. They throttle the top two percent, not at two gigs.

You read the fine print (attached). There is nothing here about 2GB. Never has been. TMobile is 2GB. Even before unlimited data was removed from data cards and tethering a couple years ago it was 5GB.

The same thing will apply to LTE customers on tiered plans.

There is no mention of two gigs in the terms and conditions that I posted. They come from he most recent VZW brochure which I have sitting here. Some rep or blogger may have said 2GB to you or written it but both have a habit of talking out of their @$$es. This is the actual terms and conditions.

I can post a PDF file of the letter Verizon sent customers this spring when they first started doing this but it says the same thing. 5% no mention of 2GB.

I'm really not trying to have an internet argument here.
here is the Verizon page explaining it. It very clearly says 5% and then defines that as using 2 gigs or more as of Ausgust 2011.

Right there in the FAQ section
" How will I know if I’m in the top 5% of data users? As of August 2011, the top 5% of data users were using 2 GB or more of data each month."
...and all I really want to know is whether or not they do this with tiered customers who are paying for 4 or 6 gigs?

I'm just stating what was in my memo straight from VZW. Thanks though.

It seems unlikely. I use 3-5gb of data a month om my Thunderbolt (the phone I uses the most data on) and have never noticed any throttling.
