Double notification sounds using Note8 and Gear S3 Frontier

I just started using my new Note8 and Gear S3 Frontier together yesterday and I have been getting notification sounds for emails/etc on both the Note8 and the Gear S3 Frontier while the phone is locked and wearing the watch. Is there a setting I am missing somewhere to stop this from happening?

I guess the only solution is to silence the notifications on the Note8.
