Double Tap to Wake While Plugged In?

My double tap and lift to wake feature on the Pixel 2 is very inconsistent. I noticed that double tap to wake doesn't work at all while plugged in. Is this as designed or is it working on your device?

Works on my 2 XL. Are you using the original charger, or a 3rd party one? Does it still happen in Safe Mode? https://support.google.com/pixelphone/answer/2852139?hl=en

+1 on 3rd party chargers making the screen wonky.

Mine works fine plugged in on P2, non XL.
