Double text message icons

I can't figure out why I get two message icons evertime I get a text message. I only have the stock messaging app installed. It will make two different sounds each time I get a text message. I've looked everywhere that I think would change this setting. I can click on the grey one and it takes me to the stock mms app, but when I click on the white one, nothing happens, it just takes me to the homescreen.

That looks like it's giving you a message received notification, similar to a sent message prompt.

What happens if you uncheck "Display message notifications in the status bar" in the stock messaging app and you receive a text?

Oh I had another thought. I've never used it, but have you done anything with the Social Hub application? If so, I wonder if that somehow has something to do with it.
