Download files disappearing from S8

I have an S8. All the files from the download folder disappeared, and those were most of my songs. How can this happen and what can i do to get them back?

Welcome to Android Central! If you have a "phone cleaner" app installed, it might be set to automatically clear out the Downloads folder. The preinstalled Device Maintenance feature on the phone might have something like this as well, so check those settings.

In general, when you download something, it's advisable to move the file from the /Download directory to some other directory of your preference.

I have a new Samsung M20 that is barely 2 weeks old. No matter what type of file I download and where I move it, the file vanishes the next day. Some files show up, but do not open. I have tried downloading images and pdf files with the same frustrating result. I used to have a Redmi 3s before this, but never faced any such issue. Is this a bug in the new Android version?

Welcome to Android Central! Unlikely to be a bug in Android per se, although it's always possible it's a bug in Samsung's modification of the update. How are you downloading the files -- using Chrome, Samsung Internet, the Google app, or something else?
