If you haven't read this article, please do so while you are downloading THE APK that I've confirmed is working on the Bolt.

If you download on your phone it should prompt to install when the download is complete.

EDIT: New download link posted.

I saw this article this morning... thanks. Cory, for a newbie, can you be a little more specific as to how to install this app on my Bolt?

I downloaded the file, moved it in Windows Explorer to the SD card, and then used 7-zip to unzip it. I now see com.google.android.music.apk in the directory. Double-clicking it just gives me "Windows cannot open this file." Sorry, I know I'm dense. Help?

You have to open the file on you Thunderbolt not in windows

edit: I used though dropbox so my way was probably different then what you are trying to do.

It would be wherever you put it on your sd card in windows so it would probably located in the same spot on your android file manger wouldn't it?

Not so stable. Crashed twice first two songs I played and also force closed Last.FM which I didn't have running (must have started it on its own?).

Just installed. A little different but it seems louder than stock. Maybe its just me. I would like it better if it integrated with the lock screen.

how would you uninstall the program in case there are too many bugs?

It doesn't uninstall or overwrite your current Music app, so you can just select this one for removal. Homescreen - Menu - Settings - Applications - Manage applications - Downloaded - select the Music app (has the orange and black headphones) - Uninstall.

Yep, you would think so. I have dumped a ton of music onto the SD card. When I mount the phone as a disk drive and open it in Explorer, there they are. Yet, for the life of me, I cannot find that directory in Super Manager. I know I am not understanding the directory structure I see in SM.

EDIT: Figured it out, got it installed. Maybe there's hope for me yet.

Are you sure its unzipped on your sd card?

You could also try creating a new folder and putting the unzipped apk in their and then looking for it there.

Thanks for your replies. I did get it installed and working. For some reason, the directory SDCard wasn't showing up in Super Manager. I fiddled with it for a bit and suddenly there it was. I don't quite know what I did. So the problem here is really operator error with the file manager.

And after all that work, I don't see a whole lot in this new Music player that's going to make me want to switch from Winamp...

Slow as hell and force quit. I think I'll stick with MIUI for now.

i was just gonna ask how stable is this? last honeycomb music player leak was laggy and force closes for one option, cant remember which

Yeah, every time I hit the menu button it crashes. I just wanted to look at the settings page!
The search for a quality music experience on Android pains me.
