I see. So when it goes through the first install, it partially installs ICS, including the recovery, but fails? Even after trying after the first attempt multiple times, I would get the same package error (Status 0 or something), I couldn't get it to work.

Yup, the first time if you don't have the ICS compatible recovery, it'll give you an "error 0", (if you get an "error 7" it's some root files that need to be removed, and that makes this way not work). Then you just choose reboot, and when it powers down, hold down volume buttons to get back into recovery. Then wipe cache one more time and install again, BAM! ICS goodness! But to be honest, with Blur, I don't really notice much of a difference. Not my phone though so I don't really care, just excited to be a little ahead of the, uh, whatever! ICS 4.0.4!! Now if we could get a working RIL for my Thunderbolt... (I'm probably getting the SGS3 anyway though, upgrade next month, and they wouldn't let me upgrade early...)

My phone won't verify the file so it aborts it everytime. I have deleted and downloaded the file 3 times......it ain't having it. Maybe its a good thing and I should just wait for the OTA to hit my phone.

This seems to be a hit or miss. I will wait until I get it from OTA instead of having it mess up. It's not like I'm in a rush to get ICS. As much as I want it badly, I can live with GB since it has been working fine for me so far.

The op of that thread claims to have pulled the update when it was pushed to his phone. Build numbers match and it works prefect for me.

Yes. Though I wasn't too broken up about it since I was planning on resetting my phone anyway.

I just did the download method of upgrading. I followed along with the video and everything when perfectly! Very simple and now I've got ICS!

I just used this method to upgrade. I got tired of waiting. It was flawless. There really is no point in waiting for the OTA. Just do it manually.
