Greetings,

I'm hoping the group can help with my battery drain. The top culprit is listed as "media" and consists of download manager and media storage. One or both of these continue to run and drain my battery. I'm running 6.0.1. This does not appear to be the mediaserver issue so many people talk about. I have already tried:

-Taking the SD card out
-Trying a new SD card
-Clearing system cache
=Force stopping both download manager and media storage apps (they keep restarting immediately)

Not sure what else to do, any suggestions?

Thanks in advance!

Scott

It's possible some media file saved to Internal Storage is corrupt. You might have to back up all of your media, then delete the media files from Internal Storage.

Gosh, that will be a pain in the *** but worth a try anyway. Thanks!

I agree that it might be a corrupt audio file. I had a situation where I installed a custom ringer file that was corrupted and it caused the media server app to run continuously and drain my battery. That's what it sounds like you're experiencing.

Well, I did a factory reset and that fixed the problem. Who knows what caused it.

Another thread recommends clearing the data on the Download Manager app in the Applications folder (need to show System Apps) in Settings.

This seems like the most directly and simplest fix.
