"Download suspended. Will resume shortly..."

That worked, thanks pchrist! Its downloading now for me

so, it was working.. it downlaoded, went to install via reboot and then it just came back to gingerbread. I had to walk away from my desk at work so idk what happened, but it didnt update thats for sure.

It hung on 71% , then Started downloading on its own after about 20 minutes, I'm running ICS, no problems once it started downloading.

My upgrade started overnight yesterday and hung up at 30%. "Download suspended. Will resume shortly." I was on my home WiFi. It never went past that point for a couple of hours so I tried some of the other suggestions I found online.
Clear your cache. Clear your browsers' cache. Pull the battery and hold down the power button for 20 seconds. I did this several times trying WiFi, MiFi, and 4G. 4G and 3G are spotty in my building.
I finally resorted to a factory reset. Thinking it might be Lookout Mobile scanning the download, I did not install it after the reset.
It looked like it was going to work because it prompted me to download now. (I was on my work WiFi)
It said it was downloading but the progress bar never went past 0%.
Then I went into manage applications and stopped the update app. Nothing happened until I started walking to my car on 4G.
It was progressing pretty quickly while I was driving home. By the way, the phone was getting pretty hot while it was downloading.
30 minutes later, I pulled up in front of my house at 94% downloaded and the phone automatically connected to my home WiFi.
That's when I got the dreaded "Download suspended. Will resume shortly." so I immediately turned of WiFi and the download resumed on 4G!
I kept WiFi off until the phone was upgraded.
I am not sure what the problem was but I recommend using 4G instead of WiFi.
Killing the updater may have helped.
Alternatively, Bionic update traffic in my area (Boston) may have been the culprit. I don't know.
I hope this helps anyone still having problems.

I had the same problem. Notification bar showed the warning symbol and said Download suspended will resume shortly. When it never did start I called Verizon and they had me remove the battery and sim card and reinstall. Didn't work so they resent the update to me and it started to install. No problems after that. I used WI-FI to download as I only get 3G at my house.

It must have failed during the install. Mine installed without any problems. I have seen where some people had to wipe cache or do a factory reset before it would work for them.
