Downloading 4.1.83 OTA now

....from the sounds of this thread, I don't want to install this update, huh?

I believe you ran a speedtest with your wireless still connected. Those are insane speeds to be 4g network alone. Try again with wi-fi disabled!:)

The highest I've ever gotten was 5.91 down and 1.57 up on Wifi, and I have 12mbps AT&T U-verse, so I dont see that being possible even with wifi; I'd at least be getting close to 12. With wifi off, I just got 1.93mbps down and 1.55 up. That's a significant change on the up side (I was only getting about at most .20mbps before), but no change on the down side.

Yeah I forgot that they also said that this update would have better wi-fi connectivity.

I just got the update today. In Sunnyvale CA, I'm getting about 5 mbps download and 0.6 mbps upload. Both are about double what I typically got before the update.

Ran a handful of speed tests immediately after download. These were all on a Comcast network connection out of Philadelphia.

Test Best Worst

Ping 119ms 158ms

DL 675 kbps 87 kbps

UL 1511 kbps 135 kbps

Oh, and unit is slightly warmer on the bottom.

WiFi results from crappy office connection:

Ping: 27ms
DL: 1455 kbps
UL: 3319 kbps

Can't wait to see what my home FiOS numbers look like. But the H network results suck.

OK,

Speed: after running lots of tests for several hours, my ping is consistently around 150, was 295 before, download seems the same, anywhere from 1.5 to 4, upload went from 100-300 to 700-1.3. Not bad, I always want more, but this is very usable.

Skype: no clue, don't use it.

Battery Life: too soon to tell a difference, but I still am VERY happy with battery life coming from the Palm Pre and then HTC EVO. No complaints here.

Heat: My phone gets warm but nothing to get alarmed at and only when under heavy use. I had several Palm Pre's that also got warm, but one got hot, and it was very easy to tell the difference. The one that ran hot also suffered from poor battery life(duh), slow speeds, etc. Every once in a while you just get a lemon. I check my battery temp and the highest I have seen is 38C.

Got the Atrix update, with no Issues ... Battery does not get hot ... Battery life is the same ... Speed is almost Faster than I can Think ... Scrolling is a Blur ... It is the Fastest GSM Phone I have ever had ... and i try them all ... Kansas City Area ...<s>

Are people rebooting their devices? seems like the speeds are kinda slow or not improved at all...

That's with 3 bars! I average 6 mbps with full bars. IMO that's really good for the Los Angeles area...
