Anyone know how to turn this off… permanently!

I assume that you are talking about the AT&T DriveMode app? If so, have you tried long pressing on the icon and then selecting "Disable"?

No it's in the Verizon message app. Not sure why it bugs me, but I switched over to the Samsung messaging app and seems to have fixed my anxiety. Now if I could only figure out what is killing my battery!
