DROID 2.1 Update thread.

I think it was just reported on adroidforums.com that if you lose it, you may not get it back.

That would be terrible news, someone who doesn't know what they're doing trying to help the rest of the community, and ends up losing the update all together..

I still don't understand why when clicking on a notification in Facebook launches the browser and goes to Facebook mobile instead of just using the application itself...

That's just how the facebook app works right now. They haven't developed very many features into it yet. Give it time, I'm sure we'll see more features, like notifications and stuff eventually.

Actually, if there are 10,000 delivered today, out of a total of one million, that means each of us has a 1% chance. The relevant statistical test indicates that if 268 of us agree to report if we get updated, there would be a 90% chance we would see at least one report.

Weren't a million droids sold in the first month? I think there may be more than 1 mil now.. I bet we'll still see the update.zip tonight.

Don't worry bud. You'll be able to get it again in a few days once someone else pulls the update.zip. Hope is not lost!

lol it wasnt me that received the update. it was another user.

he tried to get the update.zip by reflashing his phone back to 2.0 stock. the update never came back.

leads me to believe it was a update push from verizon directly. its probably not even on a server per se.

I'm sure it is. But they probably have some sort of checking mechanism. If you accept the update, your checked off the list and don't get asked to do it again. If you aren't checked (and you are in the current roll-out) you get bugged until you do do it.

So, since he rolled back, he was already checked off, so he won't see the update again...unless...did he try going into the settings to check for a System Update?

He tried everything. Didn't work. Rebooted, went to upgrade screen, etc.

Guess he's been checked off forever then. He could either complain to VZW about some..mysterious...phone reseting...problem? Or just wait for someone else to get the update.zip...or use a file recovery program.

I'm sure he'll survive a bit until somebody releases the update.zip.

Well, I ran checkin (*#*#checkin#*#* on dialpad) and nothing for me. :( Hoping for 1/9,000 (/1.3 million :p) tonight.

Tried the recovery also, nope.

He did have it. He seems to be a loyal user at phandroid and he had a screen shot to prove it.

It's like waking up on xmas morning to see the gifts under your tree then having them disappear in front of your eyes. Sad..:(

So, does the next group of updates go out tonight at midnight? Is the plan at least?
