DROID 2.1 Update thread.

Did the update and all is well. Kind of scary but worked. The video was the answer to my prayers. Good going Phil.

After updating 2.1....My droid is so HOT after using a while, new galery is so slow, when using live wallpaper the whole menu is laggyyy.... so sad.....

Its probably hot because you haven't set it down for the last two hours


And the lag? Well I dunno, I have none

I dont know if this is the right place for this question; I updated to 2.1 this morning my question: is it safe to at custom roms still? if so does anyone mind sharing a safe easy way to get the 3D launcher and maybe more desktop space

When I reboot now the top info bar says preparing SD card what is that all about, never did that before?

Make sure your on the 3G network and not Wi-Fi.

nevermind I figured it out. I named the file update.zip instead of just update.

it did that with 2.0.1 it just went away quickly and usually didn't show up after the first time you turned your phone on. unless for some reason you were on stock ROM and did a hard reset. then you would have seen it again but briefly.

As you can tell, I am new to this forum but I have been viewing for the last several months. My firtst "smart" phopne was the droid and I love it. Anyway, I never thought I would ever try a manual update but after watching the update on Android Central I gave it a try. Running 2.1 right now and everything is working great. I was a little upset that we did not get more homescreens but I loaded Helix and it is awesome.

just put it on your SD card. as if you were on your computer and you double clicked on the icon for your card to go into it. once your in the directory put it anywhere just not inside a folder that is on your card.

also make sure your not trying to do this from a file explorer like astro. you cant just put the file there and click on it. you have to turn your phone off and go into recovery mode.

no folders needed. you need to go up in the directory until you get to the root of the card. as in /sdcard . if its in a folder it wont recognize it.

Does anyone know if you can delete files directly from my phone with linda file manager? i forgot I previously had rooted and already have a update file in the root my my sd card? I need to delete that before i move the file over!
