DROID 2.1 Update thread.

Does anyone know if you can delete files directly from my phone with linda file manager? i forgot I previously had rooted and already have a update file in the root my my sd card? I need to delete that before i move the file over!

yes you can delete them from your phone but i think it would be easier to connect it to your computer.

i got it long hold then it brings up the menu to delte etc. Now i just have to find the file i downloaded haha

Stupid dog chewed on my charger all i have is the media dock at the present time for charging no usb connector at this time.

I am guessing it is normal that some of my existing apps are a little slower when using 2.1. Android buzz seems to lag quite a bit.

The media dock plugs in via the same USB cable that comes with the Droid.

if anyone is still feeling apprehensive about doing this update because they dont wanna brick their phone or if anyone is rooted and want to try the update (which was my case) or if their phone is bricked and don't kno what to do this is a great tool. gives you a little piece of mind knowing that if almost anything happens it can be fixed. also great for a fresh start.

Unroot/Unbrick your phone using .sbf

just thought i would throw that out there for everyone and props to everyone who contributed to this over at alldroid.org!

adding my 2 cents, found that the lock screen is must smoother (not the pattern one, no annoying lagg when swiping sound on and off), and google googles is baked into the room with a couple new(useless) options.

Updated via manual update.zip. Noticed they moved the light buld when docked in the multimedia dock to the upper left side of the screen. OS feels sluggish when transitioning through menus. Is there a difference between the update.zip and the OTA? I heard that the update.zip was not official from Verizon.

i've found it to only be "sluggish" when using livewallpers seems faster than 2.0.1 when on static background

the update is the same. people on the forums just choose to decline the auto update and save the .zip file and post it so others may have the same benefit as the "chosen ones". this is the official update from verizon. i haven't found any of the milestone updates being threaded in error, however if it was people would know immediatly because it would seriously mess up your phone being as it has the GSM radio software in it.

so i haven't been using it enough to test it, but does the facebook widget update properly now?

oh quick question (sorry sure this has been asked, first update for me) what happens when the OTA is sent to my phone while i'm on 2.1, does it simply not show up, or will i get the standard update to ere81 screen, if so what should i do update twice. could that be bad? lol

thanks guys :P

Verizon has stopped sending out the 2.1 update do to WiFi bugs. Not sure if the source is playing an April Fools joke though.
