1. what is bootstrap recovery? Its clockworkmod recovery but unlike other recoveries it never truely replaces the stock recovery image. So if your unable to get into Android you can't get into clockworkmod.
2. What is a nandroid backup? A nandroid backup is a backup of your system and data partition. So at a later time those things can be restored.
3. What is titanium backup? Its a root utility that allows you to backup, restore, delete or freeze appear of your choosing. Like the bloat apparently installed by VZW,
4. What is root explorer? Its basically the ultimate file manager, giving you the option to view your system partition copy apps, delete apps, or make changes to certain things. Root is required for this app to function.
5. When do I make a nandroid backup? Whenever you do something that will change a function of your phone like installing the gingerbread keyboard, before flashing roms. Or whenever you feel you have a good bug free point, just in case something happens and you can simply restore to that point.
6. Wireless tether their are multiple options for this once rooted. You can choose from market apps pay the 30 bucks to VZW or how ever much they charge, or use some methods that write to the nvrm and remove the VZW limitations so you can use the stock app without paying. Whichever you choose be careful I don't want to see anyone get into hot water with VZW over this.
7. Why can we not get a true custom recovery on The d2? Like the droid x the droid 2 has a locked and encrypted bootloader it also checks the kernel and bootloader to see if those have been tampered with if so it locks down your device making it unable to pass the bootloader screen until returned to stock.
8. Why is bootstrap recovery called bootstrap? In order for clockworkmod to work on the droid2 the dev behind it had to create a way to load it without touching the stock recovery image. So what he did is create a way that his app and recovery could be loaded onto the system partition, and when triggered it would take over the boot process to launch clockworkmod is not a true recovery image so if your messing with things and have a phone that's unable to boot into Android (past the m logo) you wont be able to load clockworkmod.
9. What is an sbf and why would I use it? An sbf is a superboot file that has the ability to restore a bricked phone. Their are a few that are out there and not all work with your current setup. So be careful and if you can get your hand ahold of one save it for a rainy day
More will be added as I or other think of things, I will also try to get instructions added in as time permits
