Droid 2 User needing help

I am currently using Droid 2 on Straight Talk due to my old phone dying and not having the ability to buy a new phone. I was wanting to root it and install a better and up to date version of Android. What is the latest and best ways to do this?

So I did research and I tried to use Framaroot, Z4root and both of them wont work. Z4root gives me error when trying to install it that says "problem parsing the package" and Framaroot just won't install. Can anyone tell me why it won't work?
