I am thinking of leaving my BB for the MOT Droid. Does anyone use AOL on the droid ? Can you send and recieve Email from your AOL account via the Droid ? Does it push to the phone the same way as on a BB?

Thanks

Jeff

You'll have to set it up as a IMAP/POP account and seriously AOL? It's kinda to the point where AOL is pretty unprofessional these days.

AOL?

I didn't know that was still around.

You need to switch to gmail.

To answer your question, yes it works and is a very easy setup and no, it does not push to your phone like a BB, it pulls. Meaning it is not "instant" like your BB since the phone has to poll for the AOL mail at a interval set by you (usually around every 15 min)

Here's what I do..

I have 2 gmail accounts, a yahoo account, a comcast account, and 2 school accounts.

For ALL but 1 of the Gmail accounts, I went into their settings and forwarded everything to the primary gmail account. You can decide whether or not to leave a copy in your original inboxes. Then I went into my primary gmail account settings and added each address as a new account, and set it up so that I could send from any of them right from my gmail account. Then I went and set up filters and labels accordingly. Now EVERY SINGLE email I receive from ANY of my accounts goes right into my primary gmail account and gets pushed right to my phone. It works flawlessly. You can even set up a shortcut on the homescreen linked right to a specific label in your gmail account.

You said you have a gmail account already, so it shouldn't be too hard to set it all up like this. If you leave a copy in your AOL inbox AND forward to your gmail account, then you can access the email from both places.

Feel free to PM me if you want more detailed information...

Great advice. I'll have to try it on my Incredible. I do miss the unified Inbox that my BB had, but I'm getting used to it. This will get me a lot closer to that so I'm going to try it.

FWIW, my technician is still on CompuServe. That's stone age compared to AOL :)
