HELP!!! I did this annoying little JB update on my Bionic and now I don't have the capability to send out group/mass text messages, which was a MAJOR FEATURE for me (I'm a team coach and this helps me coordinate and communicate with my team/parents in a very timely and efficient manner). Can anyone suggest something comparable....just a simple app for sending group text messages that does not require any of the receivers to have any specific app in order to receive. PLEASE HELP!!!

Handcent has a group messaging feature. I personally haven't used it, but looks like you need to create groups in your stock phone contact list, then Handcent imports those groups for you to select from. The recipients shouldn't have trouble receiving a them.

Could you post the steps you took to send out a group SMS while in ICS and now on JB?

Sent from my DROID BIONIC using Android Central Forums

In ICS you would create a GROUP in your phone contacts, which included those specific contacts, then you would be able to go to your stock messaging app and create a new message and select that GROUP name from your contacts, which would then populate with your recipients; in addition, you were able to select who you would want to omit from that distribution list for any one particular message. It really was a great capability.

This function is no longer available with the JB update.

Mooncatt....thanks for your help. Yes, Handcent is pretty much what I've had to go with. So far it works fine.

Thanks again :-)

My "people" contacts still has the group label and I am on JB. I have the ability to assign people in my contacts to a group if this is what you are referring to.
